Similar to last week connection's very slow with time-outs, "This site can’t be reached"!

v E r Yyyy slow site loading in Japan, and pages slow to load after finally accessing the site.

Rather troublesome, considering it’s such an incredibly expensive server/site host :-(

Helpful suggestions are welcome ...

Rebooting will make response normal again, but in the longer run is not sustainable.

I'm going through server logs at present to pinpoint the causes of the non-normal, sluggish behaviour. Also initiated a dialogue with hosting support.

We'll see if the issue can be squashed.

Currently, the sites reacts just fine.

The sister site UV Photography seems to have worked without any issues.  Is it on a different server?

It was down again here this morning, no response, but seem to be up now.

(No problems with UVP at the same time which presumably is on a different server and with different software.)

I can confirm that our 'sister' site UVP runs a different software and is hosted elsewhere. UVP has had its own share of issues, though, but at present functions well.

I just rebooted the server as it became unresponsive -- again.

Before I rebooted the box, I checked the internal server statistics and apparently we have a resource issue that might be the culprit behind the last weeks' irregularities. I'll keep monitoring the server statistics more closely hereafter.

A recurring message when accessing the nikongear site : "Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

It dissapears when refreshing the page.

There are unsolved server issues alas. I try to monitor the server status and reboot it if required, which now is about once a week. Sometimes I have other obligations and might miss the deteriorating condition of the system or away from my bespoke login console.

This morning (European time) the site failed to display pages several times
(No response received  type error)

At 13.30 BST it's back now

16:51 CEST - very slow and the majority of tries is ending in timeout. 2023-08-09. Just hope this post goes through.
