By the magic powers of the PrimaLuce Z5, I discovered the hidden Planet 9 !! Unfortunately, I'm not the first discoverer as the ubiquitous Kilroy found it before me. His classic message 'Kilroy was here' however is encoded in Planet 9-ish as "17604".

Basically photography should be fun. Playing with light in its various incarnations is not abot lens sharpness, megapixels or what kind of software is to be preferred. One should keep that in mind.

Not intentionally, I can assure you. But it struck me later, though :)
The prosaic background is that I found my 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye-Nikkor in the back of my car, so thought it should be used. That lens had gone astray for a considerably mount of time.

Who needs to go to Mars when you can just look in the trunk of Birna's car? Great way to start the month. I'm thinking that it might be interesting to spend March making photographs which don't strictly match the physical appearance of the subject, or at least approach the subject obliquely.

The strangest February day in my 30 years in Japan. Nothing to compare!
I experienced an isolated squall-like downpour 10 or 15 years ago in February in Ota-ku, Tokyo. It was even warmer than today then. The climate of Japan has become increasingly like tropical in the past couple of decades.

Yes, I have a permit, but nothing happens there.... Very minimal news, no real press conferences, limited local news, closed restaurants and museums, no cultural and sport events. Political meetings only online...

Thanks John, Andrew and Akira for commenting.
John, the lens is the 50mm f/1.2 S, which arrived at my home yesterday morning. I tried it right away and was impressed by what the pictures looked like. I have the 50mm f/1.8 S and while it is a clinically sharp lens, I have never been able to take good pictures with it - my bad I guess. I was impressed by what Frank has done with the 50mm f/1.2 S and it sparked a desire to get the lens. The order was a month and a half on backorder from Nikon but it was worth the wait. It is the first 50mm lens in my lifetime that has really rocked my boat.
I will probably sell the 50mm f/1.8 S and another lens or two to offset the cost, but I'm keeping the f/1.2.

I had my 300mm vrII serviced because I felt it was not as sharp as it used to. Nikon Madrid told me it just needed a little adjustment of the AF and they did so at no cost ??? 8) I spend the evening just marveling at the detail this lens can produce. Here, a little contrast with enclosed work and open happy decorations on the street, a few meters from the balcony.

Thank you, Sten. I'm not sure, but maybe the underground infrastructures in Tokyo like gas, water and sewerage are already too complicated to accept any additional large-scale infrastructure like the electricity.

Cancer is a ubiquitous disease. All living can be afflicted, trees are no exception.
Laowa 11mm f/4.5 on my Nikon Z50. This combination is neat and tiny and the lens is surprisingly sharp and contrasty by the way. Can be a bit tricky to focus when its is stopped down though, despite the touted advantages of EVF (the lens has no automatic aperture, but is native Z-mount).

Thanks Sten. Yes, that 25/2.8 Zeiss Distagon is pretty good. Close focus at less than 17cm makes it a versatile lens. Ideal for landscapes, architecture and documenting. A bit comparable with the famous Nikkor 28/2.8 Ai-S. Zeiss (Cosina) discontinued this lens resulting in higher prices on the market.

In principle the international border between Norway and Sweden is closed these days, due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. Well, the principle works on trust. In my hometown the two older hospitals nearby where I live have been replaced by one newly built on the edge of town.
The terrain of one has been redeveloped for housing, the other one is being converted to a city park.
Yesterday I shot this image of the park. Everything is newly planted so it looks a bit bare but give it a few months and it will look fine.
In the back the former boiler room plus of the hospital can be seen. This building is being converted to a day-care at the ground floor, and a restaurant plus terrace on the upper floors.

Electric Teak Wagon type HkB 600 as used by the Oslo Metro. Now on display next to the former train station in Amersfoort.
These wagons were taken out of service in 1995. Does anyone of our Norwegian members remember this kind of wagon?

Thank you, John. Yes, the lens was focused almost at the closest focusing distance of 5m, which is not too close in today's standard. But the simple optical design seems to struggle even at 5m.

Yes, it is well worth experimenting. The quick and dirty test suggested that it would perform very well for distant scenes and objects. I'm looking forward to shoot the moon to see how it is resistant to flare and ghosts.

According to the calendar there ought to be some kind of spring over here. The deciduous trees evidently have decided the time has come to develop masses of catkins. Which, in turn, heralds a massive attack of pollen allergies will hit us shortly. "It is how it is".
The inland delta of Nordre Øyeren is the largest in northern Europe and the myriad of newly formed islands see dense development of Downy Birch and Grey Alder. The older sites gradually are invaded by Norway Spruce. From a convenient vantage point I allowed my 600mm f/5.6 Nikkor ED-IF capture the riparian forests now just before the onset of leafing. The heavy catkin loads make the tree outlines look quite fuzzy when seen from a distance, in this case the scene depth is around 2 km.

Our Spring is late this year what with all the snow. However, as luck would have it, my first butterfly of the season, an Eastern Comma, briefly landed on my first flowers, the Snowdrops, while I was taking pictures in my front yard. Kismet!

Is the shot art? Personal interest? History? Photo Journalism? Certainly it's not forensic. I'd clone the pole out in Photoshop unless there is a good reason not to.
I vaguely remember shooting the front of a clinic for a PR customer brochure or news letter. There was trash in the landscape, fast food junk. This must have been in the '80s. I had to pick up the trash as best as I could. I would not do that for PJ but did for PR. Today I'd pickup the worst and leave the smaller stuff to Photoshop. Public relations photography is the step sister of Photojournalism.
Anyway I remove telephone and electrical wires in some shots. They detract but there is no nefarious intention. Just a kinder or more pleasant representation of reality, not reality itself.

It's a mix between personal interest and photo journalism. Thanks for encouraging me, I've removed the lamppost in post.

It's been a long, non-productive week at my abode. I've been having problems with my right shoulder. Saw the doctor this week and he thinks it's a nerve impingement. He gave me some exercises, some steroid anti-inflammatories and said he may have to refer me to a specialist. Not happy. Not happy mainly because it's difficult or impossible to do overhand vertical shots. At least I have vertical battery grips for most of my Nikons but none for my Fuji X-Pros--they don't take such accessories. My parts are old and failing, I fear. But it's still all good even if it's not.
Anyway, it's horizontal only with the Fujis. And limited subject matter as well. My most agreeable (and always available) model seems concerned about the state of affairs. This is Christie the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier shot with a Fuji X-Pro2 and 35/2 Fujinon lens.

I wonder how it is specialized? Facilitated for UV/IR and false-color works?

Yes, it can. In fact, versions back to 1.35 can do that although colours are off unless you make a session colour profile.

I have uncompressed Z-files. And Photo Ninja still can't read them in my version 1.3.7a

I haven't any uncompressed files to test with, sorry. You probably can cast them into DNG using the free tools available?

Yes, that is possible of course, but it's an extra step of (unnecessary) work ;) I was hoping the 'problem' was solved with the new update.

No, I had problems running the new version due to my video drivers. So Jim of Picturecode made a special edition of PN for me.
