It must be a vapour trail.

I also really like the picture. However, for the minimalism thread, i'd have liked the foreground trees to be out of focus more, they are quite defined (which is probable desired for other purposes). IMHO of course.

Yes, it is a so-called 'contrail' from a commercial jet at or just after sundown.  I agree that it's not as minimal as some have been.  If this thread demonstrates anything, it's that the term "minimalist" is open to wide interpretation.

Your aquatic plant is Persicaria amphibia (Polygonum amphibium). A very strange plant that thrives equally well on dry land as being entirely submersed (a behaviour reflected in its species epithet). Later in the season, it has aerial spikes densely packed with pink flowers.

Thanks Bjørn.  That explains why it is flourishing on the Ven, a lake with sandy earth where waterlevels fluctuate enormously. With the massive rain in June the whole area is overfloated with sub -lakes. In hot summers the lake can disappear.

One of my favourite minimalists is the Japanese (or Japanese-American) photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto (http://www.sugimotohiroshi.com/).  He is most famous for his seascapes (http://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection#!?q=Sugimoto&sortBy=Relevance&sortOrder=asc&page=1).  A while ago I spent a few weeks living in a house on the bottom edge of Australia, overlooking the Southern Ocean - which I have not seen a Sugimoto photograph of.  This is mine.

More aquatics. This time Carex lasiocarpa (Slender Sedge), taken with my Fuji S5Pro and the Nikon 70-210 mm f/4 SE lens.

This has already been published in another thread http://nikongear.net/revival/index.php/topic,4052.0/topicseen.html

But I thought, this one belongs also in this thread  :)
