I followed Birna's advice on another thread and went out to do a little shooting.  Our Mediterranean landscape in California is transitioning from the end of the wet season to the beginning of the dry season, where the grasses and flowers are largely dormant in the form of seeds, roots, and the like.  This year the wet season delivered only a fraction of the usual moisture so there will likely be some bad fires later in the year. Still, there are flowers to be found.

Despite my transition, I'm still capable of indulging my previous nerdy instincts. This time just showing a test shot with the 38mm f/2.8 Olympus OM macro lens (modified to Nikon F mount) equipped with a modified Laowa LED ring light, the package deployed on one of my V1 cameras through the Erik-enhanced FT-1 adapter. I could, thanks to the quite bright LED light, easily shoot at pretty fast speeds 1/125-1/200 sec with a hand-held camera. All this in preparation for the upcoming field season, which looks to be very busy indeed. Probably will use a Z camera instead of the little V1 for any serious macro work in the field, though. The OM 38/2.8 itself is all metal, very robust and gives good image quality so is ideal for the hazards of field investigations on aquatic plants. The Laowa LED ring light is designed for their 25mm f/2.8 'ultra-macro' lens, which I use extensively, but constrained to studio photography. With a suitable ring from my odds-and-ends boxes and some Epoxy glue, the ring light now is seated on the Olympus lens. I purchased another Laowa ring light for use on the 25mm lens as these items are quite inexpensive. In field I feed power to the ring light from a Power Bank, in the studio any 5V USB source will do.

   Some lowkey carpobrotus edulis (I think, "uña de gato/ cat´s claw" is called here), it is considered invasive in Spain and very common in my hometown, close to the water, south Spain, mild weather.

The Carpobrotus is called Fico degli Ottentotti in Italy. Very common and invasive here too, but flowers (multicolored) are lovely!
