Look here, most on my site is done with that special quartz/fluorite UV lens http://uvir.eu

Basically it is about this, making the (for us) invisible UV (300-400nm), visible (as we see only 400-750nm)!
Danke für die Information, Klaus! So this lens actually lets you take UV images?I assumed that a sensor modification was needed for UV images...

Most modern cameras need to be modified in order to capture a UV image. Plus, having a UV-capable lens in addition makes the challenges easier to tackle.

I own several UV-Nikkors myself and in fact, bought one of them from Klaus many years ago.

Much more about UV is to be found at our sister site, https://www.ultravioletphotography.com/content/

Most welcome! Yes, cameras need to have their sensor filter replaced with an UV capable window, ideally fused silica, which I prefer. A lot of
companies offer that now; most of them listed on my site and indeed also at ultravioletphotography.com, as Birna has already mentioned.

I have two UR-2 50x50mm filter holder lying around.  It is handy but its rear thread is weird 60mm P0.5mm which makes its use limited on AF-1.

With such a lowball figure, in Italy we would say

Hai avuto una bella botta di culo !!!

(fig. You had a super strike on your ars**hole)

While I was looking down the ad photos, I was adding up...
50mm/1.2 300€
μNikkor 55mm/2.8 +75€ (so far 375€)
105/2.5 +75€ (so far 450€)
μNikkor 105/4.5 +150€ ... wait a minute!!! ... 4.5? UV Nikkor!!!

Enjoy!

For long I don't use them anymore, XUME MANFROTTO magnetic filter holder rings are so much better!

Welll 12000 GBP is a lot of money - and it shows the other side of the price range

and there are the other components that are part of the set, the Nikon FF filter, the AF-1 filter holder (designed for Gelatine -foilters) and the UR2 adapter allowing to mount the FF filter to the AF-1
