Pat & Mat
A very eerie image. Yet I like it for it's originality.

No weekend image from me. On Saturday I photographed a funeral which was a surreal experience due to strict COVID-rules. I do wish 2021 brings positive changes for all of us.

Talk about a tough act to follow!

A favourite tale is that of Yousuf Karsh and his portrait of Sir Winston Churchill.

I wonder how he would have handled this recalcitrant fellow?

The new "Greener Future" is upon us already. No snow in sight anywhere in my neighbourhood. At this time of the year one would expect almost 1m of that cold, fluffy white stuff blanketing the landscape :( instead this month apparently is set to be the hottest on record ever. Sigh. Climate changes are upon us.

The sordid view from Ruth's apartment indicates the grim reality facing us now. Taken with the 11mm f/4.5 LAOWA ultra-wide lens on the Z50. A nice combination, by the way. Everything post done on  Linux, which is another step forward.

Photo Ninja & Irfanview, in this case. Both install and run flawlessly under Linux Mint 19.3, using the Windows setup file(s). Darktable or RawTherapee might be alternatives and the laptop carries both as native Linux programs. Then there is the "GIMP" if one can stomach it.

The nice aspect about photo Ninja is that it can deal with RAW files from cameras unknown to it; there is no colour accuracy, but making a profile for the given camera can put things straight. Or at least, make acceptable results.

The LAOWA lens here is at the near limit, 19cm, and even at f/11 there is insufficient depth of field to create an illusion of sharpness in the background. One has to be critically precise with the placement of focus since the lens in itself is very sharp. A bit like the 24/2 Nikkor in fact, which also "suffers"from the same problem.
