The rather tiny, yet ultra-wide 11mm f/4.5 Laowa (in native Z-mount!) is a pleasant surprise. Despite its enormous 126 degr. angle of view, it delivers crisp and clear images with almost no detectable colour fringing, and a flat field as well -- amazing. OK, there is severe light fall-off to the periphery when you shoot it wide open, which at f/4.5 lens "speed" happens a lot in winter in my part of the world. Focusing this tiny lens is challenging as well. As it is so sharp, one has to do precise focusing and cannot rely on zone focusing for optimal results.

Towards the near limit of 19cm, the lens shade and photographer's shade tend to interfere, so getting shadow-free results is not always easy. Here is a snapshot from my regular hang-out, where I'm enjoying excellent cappucino (and waffles) while reading the news paper.

It's bucketing down outside -- not snow as it should this time of the year, but cold and wet rain. Of the "cats-and-dogs" kind, how unpleasant.

So better fire up the coffee maker and fulfil a request from our esteemed member Richard Haw to make a "porn star" out of my 360-1200 Zoom-Nikkor ED. Herewith indulged.

The "tiny" lens below is the Zoom-Nikkor 180-600mm f/8 ED and there is a dwarfed Df there as well, to indicate the dimensions.

Ah, so that is where the 360-1200 came from. It already made me wonder, and you were the first I suspected of playing a part in this :)

Stopped by to wish you all some merry and pleasant days, and a good health, until we meet again.

I am kind of tied up in work as well as everyday life. Still, most likely working only 6 days a week for the last two weeks of this year I found some time to indulge on the more pleasant parts of life.

Baking bread, drinking good coffee and making bad photographs

No bearing (sic) to the 360-1200 lens serviced by Richard -- I think I have had my 360-1200 sample for at least 12 years by now :)

The 360-1200 is not a commonly seen lens, however.  The early K/AI version totalled below 100 units, and the AIS following them perhaps a little more. So we're talking about a population of 250 or less.

In Tokyo, it has been cold and dry for a couple of days.
