My dad in NZ had an almost identical car to the one in your image. It was a blue 1955 Dodge Kingsway with a 2 speed powerflyte auto and a small V8. You are right about the handling - it steered more like a boat than a car. It is still in the family, but much the worse for wear. Plymouth, De Soto, and Chrysler sold variations of this car in NZ - mainly to farmers who had to have solid cars to handle the rough outback gravel roads prevalent over there at that time. Beige, blue, black, and green were common colours for this model. Chevrolets and Ford Customlines were also very popular with NZers back then
