This is me and my classic, a 1969 Mustang Mach 1. It's all original, with a 351 Windsor and a 4 speed manual transmission.

A coworker unexpectedly left it to me when she passed away, leaving a note, stating "Tim, Mustang, have fun."

She had told me some years before that she purchased it new, two years after high school, and that it helped her "pick up sailors" back when she "still had a figure". A good person who gifted far more than a car.

The photo is courtesy of a friend's iPhone.

Sweet.
Very Generous of her.
Great place for a cruise along Hwy 101. Did you  see how it took all the curves of Hwy 53?

Ian, I nearly cried when I found out, not because I'm much of a muscle car guy but because of her warmhearted gesture. I was going through a rough patch, and I believe she wanted me to feel life's goodness.

Ken, I haven't taken it on Hwy 53, yet. That particular drive was Hwy 6 from Beaverton to Tillamook, then up 101 to Hwy 26 and back to Beaverton.

I'm recently mostly down in Trinity County, California, just off Hwy 299 near Douglas City. I'll be bringing the Mustang down here in January. If either of you make it down this way, give a holler. Perhaps we can take the Mustang out for a little drive, maybe a day trip to the Redwoods, to honor her "have fun" instruction.

Tim, this looks like an amazing car and the history behind it is so heartwarming

Love the car, but in my jurisdiction the driver would be fined around $1k and lose a third of his drivers licence points.

Here also...but, they have to be observed in the act by law enforcement, and therein lies the rub.

Many thanks again, Ian

1960. The manufacturers had started to clean up the excesses of '58 and '59. The split grill that became Pontiac's motif in the sixties arrived in 1961. Alas, I have no idea about the model.

The Buick is from 1948. ('49 had a full-width grill. '50 made it look like a waterfall.) If that says "Dynaflow" on the front wing (fender, for North Americans) then the model is the most expensive Roadmaster. Dynaflow was Buick's new automatic transmission that used a rather complicated torque converter. The gearbox had two speeds but always stayed in the high gear unless the driver shifted down. The torque converter was left to do the work and provided a much smoother experience that the other automatics available in the day. However, it was not particularly efficient and soon earned the nickname "Dynaslush." It was only available on the Roadmaster in 1948.

Great info and details.
As for the 1948 Buick it says "Super" on the front wing - due to the angle I photographed the car, the rearmost isn't visible. Funny story about the nickname "Dynaflush"!

Thank you, Lars. That is a custom job based on an early fifties Pontiac. (The wide chrome stripe down the centre of the car was gone for 1955.) Judging by the way the rear fenders are smoothed into the sides of the car along with the chrome spear, I'd say a 1954. The rear end has had some serious work done. I have no idea where they found the tail lights. The details on either side of the boot lid are custom too. At the front, the grill looks as though it was taken from a Buick. The protrusions were characteristic of Cadillac in the early fifties. They were nicknamed "Dagmars" after a, let us say, prominent actress of the time.
Very interesting - that might explain as it did look quite new and didn't have a patina most other cars from that period had. The name "Maybelle" have probably nothing to do with a specific car model - apart from this unique car. I read about the "Dagmars" and their Dagmar bumbers...

Looks like a 1963 Cadillac DeVille. A really smooth and beautiful car. Back in the day my God father would buy and new Cadillac for his wife one year and a new Chevrolet for himself the next.

A 1956 Dodge Royal Lancer was a welcome, if most expected, sight at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.

My father had a very similar 1955 Dodge Kingsway single colour light blue all over with 4-doors and with a 4.2 litre V8 engine and a 2-speed Powerflyte automatic transmission.  Not the most economic of cars.
