April 3d. Not quite the last time zone of the day (UT-8, but currently UT-7 with daylight saving).  One of those superb Spring days we get in Seattle to remind us that it won't really stop raining until July.  My first is a blue heron, one of the colony returning to the Ballard Locks for summer and busy today fetching sticks to patch last year's nests. (Cropped from a D-810 frame; 300 mm f/4 AFS).  The second is Japanese maple hovering above tulips (55 mm f/3.5).  The D-810 is only recently purchased. A magical camera and contrary to internet pronouncements not at all hostile to old MF lenses.  The 55/3.5 produces photos of astonishing clarity.

Cheers,  John (with a few minutes to go before midnight)

Hi John! Great you joined our daily exercise!

When I see the expression of these birds I always have to think they direct descendents of dinosaurs. Some outer worldly stance in them. Thank you for sharing!

As you are in Seattle all the best to my little brother Christian at Microsoft!

today I tried to adapt and transcend some of my hero Fons's work:

1) adapt
2) transcend
3) none

Great stuff, Frank !

Father Gerrit Poels, already more than 50 year helping the poor, reopens a social restaurant, after cityhall closed the previous one, because of cuts.

Left is Zjef Naaijkens, entertainer, singer and writer, and artistic leader of Halve Gare, an educational cultural hot-spot for dis-abled youngsters. They joined forces in reopening the social restaurant. The merger is concluded with a 'sacred' blessing  ;)

John - great moment!

Thomas - love the car wash.  I can't even figure out exactly what I'm looking at, but I like looking at all the fun details.

Thanks, Chip. I enjoy car wash plants and always try to bring a camera. Special bonus: when the sun is hitting in from a low elevation... .

Thomas - my curiosity is engaged.  Are we looking out the back of the car?  I am looking at that little hump shape, which could be the spot for a rear wiper??

In the garden which is a former small pasture with a stream. We keep 70% wild and encourage biodiversity by preserving all plants that are coming back and by planting indigenous species and taking care of insects food chain. For example, Corydalis is a natural station while Fritillaria is a reintroduction from locally sourced plants. We now have 3 or 4 times more plants and insects than 13 years ago when we moved in.

Bruno. That is cool. Do you also work with Myceluim? Mushrooms are tge base for many other species.
Reigning the decay path they recycle lots of nutrients from anything and are themselves nutritious to other species.
Du you have mushrooms or Mycelia to show?
