I keep several log piles as refuge for toads and Zootoca vivipara, a lizard living in damp areas. They are slowly rotting and are full of mushrooms. Chemicals are also banned from the garden so we regularly have mushrooms popping here and there. I have pics in the archive but they would not fit this thread. I'll have a look later today, when rain stops.

I ask esp because I just read the book "Mycelium Running" by Paul Stanmets who also wrote a book about growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms and is regarded as one of the leading experts in decontamination of sites using mushrooms. The book contains a lot of information although it is quite entagled and structurally confusing like Mycelium sometimes is:

very interesting plant. Why dead? Is it poisonous?
No it's the Purpurrote Taubnessel  in German ;)  or the Lamium purpureum

Father Gerrit Poels, already more than 50 year helping the poor, reopens a social restaurant, after cityhall closed the previous one, because of cuts.

Left is Zjef Naaijkens, entertainer, singer and writer, and artistic leader of Halve Gare, an educational cultural hot-spot for dis-abled youngsters. They joined forces in reopening the social restaurant. The merger is concluded with a 'sacred' blessing  ;)

Nice story and a nice candid shot, John.  :)

John. Flowers are best lit from behind. Your shot is proof.

Bruno. Wow. Biodiversity at work. Are some of these edible?

April 2. Today I tested a used Fuji XF 55-200 I'm considering buying. In the local church I tested the OIS in available light with some handheld shots at the long end... and one at the shorter end.

First one shot through an iron gate handheld at 200mm and 1/30s. All out of camera JPG's corrected in C1.

I just revisited your shots and found very thoughtful compositions.

I don't know but I remember that most of the mushrooms growing on wood, even when edible, are rather hard and not really good.

Good Stuff John of the reopening. Bruno, I love your gardening methodology. I only have a yard, but no poisons, compost everything and use vermiculture for food waste. Unforyunately, it so dry here that mushroom growth is only in winter (our wet months).

The end of a long day. Sipping some wine in the patio, munching some fruit and relaxing after a long day.
