The industrial lens 55 mm f/1.2 CRT Nikkor-O, designed for recording faint oscilloscope traces on CRT scopes and hence deliberately made with an inversely curved field.

Another example of what the 55 mm f/1.2 CRT Nikkor-O can deliver. Given it was made for narrowband phosphors of the CRT display its ability to cope with broad-spectrum daylight is actually quite a surprise.

The lens was designed for a narrow range of magnification, around 1:4 to 1:5, and needs a short-register camera system if one wants to push it further towards infinity. However, due to its specially designed field curvature, it will show a massive fall-off of sharpness towards the periphery of the frame for any subject outside the near range.

This capture of a Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa) was acquired with a Nikon D3X at 1:3.5 magnification and f/1.2. The perfect circles of confusion is a hallmark of this industrial lens.

35 mm f/0.9 (50 mm f/1.2 Nikkor AIS + Metabones Speedbooster).

A dream in Pink!

How does this converter work? How can a 50 turn into a 35?

Bjørn, what sensor size is involved here?

BTW, very nice image.

35 mm f/0.9 (50 mm f/1.2 Nikkor AIS + Metabones Speedbooster).

In combination with a 0.7X focal reducer. Metabones makes such reducers for several formats. I use the 50/1.2 AIS Nikkor on my Panasonics and get 35 mm f/0.9 as a result.
