Very much agree with Jan Anne. Short term pain, long term gain. Only thing I would want is them replacing Lightning with USB Type-C.

Was expecting Apple to do so with the iPhone 7 but as USB-C currently doesn't support audio yet they couldn't combine it with their plans to remove the 3.5 headphone jack.

A month ago USB-IF did however publish the specifications for both digital and analog audio over USB-C so expect this interface to be in the iPhone 8

I also agree - The big question here is how long time is 'Short term'

USB-C is the future but as this is still a transition period it would have been nice to see at least one or two USB-3 ports as well as one or two USB-C

Why do they 'need' to put three/four USB-C into the 15" ? with the compatibility of USB-C two should be enough,,,

So, JA and others, which model are buying? 13" without the dedicated graphic card? I5 or i7? I suppose 16GB RAM is the only set feature

The larger the SSD the faster, as far as I know,,,

Graphic card - well you are editing and displaying very large files and stitched files,,,

i7 is the best a man can get,,,

I wanted to jump on the USB-C bandwagon ages ago and the new MacBooks seem the perfect excuse to do so but I became hesitant once the prices were announced. I'm in no rush so I'll probably wait for a nice black friday, tax free Media Market day (-21%) or likewise deal to take the edge off . Or maybe its time to schedule a NG event in the US when they hit the shelfs 

Currently I'm going back and forth between 13" and 15" models, the former is a high spec replacement of my 5+ year old MacBook Air and the latter offers quad core CPU's, discrete GPU and of course that glorious 15" screen.

Performance wise the 13" will be more than enough as it runs circles around my ancient i7 MBA which works just fine for me even with the 42MP files as I don't do batch processing. The 13" would also allow me to tuck it into my Billingham Hadley Pro bag just like the MBA, with the 15" I also need to buy another camera slash travel bag.

JA, the tax free Media Markt offer, as I remember, never included Mac products.
I am inclined to go for the 15" just to make my Erik proud of me.
i7 quad-core and 4GB of dedicated GPU is probably the way to go.
The 15" will be lighter than my current MacBook Pro for 200 grams, wider 2cm and longer 1cm, which doesn't really mean that I will need a larger bag...
Now, how do we save on the taxes

I'm sure alle the manufacturers of third party gear are happy with the change

I'm not sure in which cases the 4GB memory on the GFX card would be needed? Gaming? Running Dual 5K displays?

USB 3:  At this point, the train has left the station. 
3 or 4 USB-C jacks:  I have learned never to wish for less holes.  Currently with USB2 and 3, some peripherals(my external audio DAC, for example) do not work through hubs and splitters.  Maybe USB-C will end this madness?  Don't count on it...
