They certainly make some interesting choices. They seem to have a fetish for thin devices. If they kan make a device thinner, they do it. For both my iPhone and the new MBP, I'd rather have a slightly thicker device and a bigger battery. A bigger battery would also make it possible to add more RAM and perhaps an even faster GPU. That's just me though, I'm sure others are of a different opinion
I've been using a MacBook Air the last 7 years so the specs of any of the new pro books will be more than enough, so for me the less is more approach works just fine. The 13" pro model is even smaller than my 13" MBA which is simply amazing with all that extra hardware on board.
At work though a lot of developers use the MacBook Pro's with a lot of virtual OS sessions and such for dev and testing purposes, I suppose they wouldn't mind some extra RAM and horsepower. Probably the same goes for the videographers, game developers, etc.
