This picture was taken today of a drain from a catch basin that captures water running off the hill above our house and channels it into our wetlands. The water flowing through the algae clinging to the lip of the pipe was illuminated with a pleasing range of colors when it caught the late afternoon sunlight. It seemed out of season on this January day.

This morning, 0900 at dawn, -22C, from my girl friend's veranda. For Elsa who apparently is enchanted with snow and cold weather :D

The first sun rays cover the far landscape in golden hues, but anything not in their direct path shows the blue colours of a winter sky.

Wow, that last shot is really superb Bjørn!  The color and composition are both fantastic and there is something very pleasing about an image packed with  consistent filled out detail.  It feels more like a texture overall.  I bet that'd look stunning on a wall.

Berries stay put if not eaten by birds. 105/2.5 @ f/2.8

Not much new snow lately, but shorter dips of temperature to -25°C takes care of frost on branches. 300/4 PF @ f/4.

Cold weather in winter often means the presence of the sun. As the power of the winter sun is very weak at this latitude, sunshine does little to warm the frozen photographer. However, it still is useful to create light effects around trees and branches.

Today's mid day view from the veranda of my girl friend's apartment, -20C thus not as cold as during the last night when we experienced down to -26C. Nikon Df, 105/1.8 Nikkor AIS @ f/11. The shadows are intensively cold blue as they only receive diffuse light from the sky.

The snow is falling heavily in Tokyo right now.  I shot a picture, but it is just a Facebook instagram quality.  :(  In the comming morning, the commuters should be in trouble.

It was difficult to find some ice  ;)  Forecasts indicate it will be around -2 for the beginning of the week, but by Wednesday the fun will be gone with some serious wind, followed by rain and a +5 to +9  degrees Celcius.

Df - 105/1.8

Nice one. Only the bottom part gives away the subject.
