Simone: their physiognomy and structure are identical. The tree line drops towards the higher latitudes and sooner or later it reaches the sea level. Then the tundra takes over in shaping the landscape.

Thanks for the clarification. I was of course aware of that, but it is still fascinating to me :). Sometimes my fascination circles around the obvious or the well-known.

Mike, both (fisheye?) images looks very nice, but I particularly like the first one: the exaggerated perspective and the sun-star work greatly.
