This is definitely not the best photo but it has a nice detail. I was playing a bit with the then new 300PF when I heard the copter. As it was close to this position, I did not have time to bring shutter speed down and aperture up. So the copter seems to be falling out of the sky.
The detail: the plane towards the bottom on the left side. I only noticed it after using the dehaze function in PP.

Nice new contributions here. I like the calm of your image Fons. Colin, it is always funny with those helicopters falling out of the sky, I am surprised you were able to keep all 3 objects focused. Tom, nice how your moon balances those beautiful sunset colors.

The moon can be a source of back-light, and I don't doubt the souce of the light in this image of yours was the moon.

However, I would think this is resulted from an optical phenomenon that is different from the focusing of the image.  Actually any light source can be made look like a full moon...  The halo around the "moon" should be the flare inside the lens barrel.

3 very clear nights in a row
I was able to shoot 1/500 f/8 ISO 100
each moon is a 100% crop of the V1 mounting the 70-300VR zoom

Great idea Amando. I also was impressed by Charlie's rendition of the back side of the moon with landscape features showing.

We got a nice almost clear Christmas eve here in Fairbanks with -25°C after some cloudy weather. Here is a very quiet yard. Could look like the residents went south for the winter and shut everything down.

Barn in the woods. The moonlight was so bright that it was almost a challenge to make it look like a night shot.

And of course the face of the full moon itself with 300PF/TC-14E on D7100, although no chance of matching Amando's version as it is cloudy again today.

The clarity of the moon is unbelievable. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that it is shot so far north?
The blues and sharpness of the barn is so special. Whcih setup did you use?
