Since I had a functional battery for the old Nikon D1X, why not try to revive my oldest DSLR, a D1 from late 1999. That camera was amongst the first 4-5 bodies shipped to Norway towards the end of 1999 and I got one of them -- later, it has been superceded by more Nikon models of course, but still is kind of special to me. I later modified it to "full-spectrum" by simply removing the filter pack over the sensor. Since I didn't replace the filter pack focus is off, and with a camera lacking Live View feature, focusing for UV and Ir tended to be a hit or miss. I shot mainly IR with wide-angle lenses such as the 20 /3.5, 20/4, 28/3.5, or similar, and quickly learned how to set approximate focus and estimate what field of view they captured. Actually a quite deliberating experience
As said, I revived it with the fresh battery, and put the old workhorse UV-Nikkor 105mm f/4.5 on it. I had no tripod nearby, so had to shoot hand-held, which worked quite OK for visible light captures, not so well for UV since UV this bleak day required 1sec. or longer exposures. Anyway, I show just the visible light recored here. Not bad for a 25-year old digital camera with unknown focus offset?
