Honkers - Canadian Geese (Branta canadensis)

These geese seemed to be confused. There used to be a very large pond at the VA hospital about a bow shot away from where they are standing. The VA bulldozed the pond knowing that veterans staying at the hospital would rather look out their windows and see a butt ugly roof with aluminum vents than a pond with aquatic birds. The geese flew all this way and there's no pond so they just stand around thinking, WTF?

I'm not a flower photographer but my wife's roses are budding and the light this morning was really nice.  D700, 28-105D lens.

- What do you do when you see something by your feet, but you've got your 300mm + TC14 on your DX camera and no tripod?
- Take it anyway!

A non-native that used to be very popular but is now mostly found in forgotten spaces, showing its shiny face in morning sun.
