This is beautiful, stunning and amazingly elaborate work.  Such kinds of tradition should be well respected and preserved.

The shawl of such design should fit very well with the female flamenco dancers, I guess?

This is probably 60x60 cm
Open the image in a separate tab and click it should show it larger than here.

I was surprised I was allowed to use my camera, I've been to other museums that did not allow photography

Here is another image - shot last year - it represents the creation of the world, this one is probably 2m x 1.5m

I opened your photographs in another window (as you suggested) and could then zoom-in to examine the intricate designs and splendid degree of workmanship in more detail.

Thank you so much for sharing these very special images with us.

Armando, can you expand on "each color is a single thread"? This work is beautiful, and I'm loving the bright, bold colors. I must say there's not enough Peyote on the planet to enable me to do what these people do!

each contiguous area of a single color is made with a long thread of such color

the threads are pressed over wax spread over wood

The wide range of bright colours is remarkable.
Are these examples fairly recent works (so that they could use modern dyes) and do they use woollen or sisal yarns?

I don't know what kind of yarn is used

the creation on the fist  image was made in 1979

I took a shot of the explanation, so here is a text after passing through OCR and then google translate, and reviewed for obvious mistakes

Tatéi Ni‘ariwame, Our Mother Messenger of the Rains, is attached to the center of
the earth (‘ixriapa) by Our Great Grandparents, Tatutsima, who were the

Tatéi Ni‘ariwame is stopped by two round stone discs (tepdrite) that
show how it is attached to the center of the world. The disks represent a

On the other hand, his mother, Tatéi ‘Utianaka, | former Mother of the Earth, the Rivers and

I was just referring to its beautiful design.  Considering its sacred meaning, it should be better not to take it lightly.  Sorry...
