Thank you for supplying the details of the fascinating (but complicated!) legends embodied in the artwork which make them even more interesting.

I was just referring to its beautiful design.  Considering its sacred meaning, it should be better not to take it lightly.  Sorry...

I didn't find your comment disrespectful. Appreciating its beauty is a compliment and you are always kind Akira San. I'm the one sorry if I made you feel otherwise.

Paco, no, you never made me feel sorry.  I was just a bit too nonchalant.

Huicholes and indigenous group located in the states of western-central Mexico
They create this yarn paintings, each color is a single thread
This example if the goddess of the rain, and an elaborated representation of their mythology
In their ceremonies they depend on the shaman and they use Peyote to reach an altered state of mind

Beautiful!!

Thanks for all the comments, I never thought this will cause so much interest

I have seen arts and crafts from this group since I was a kid, so while I still enjoy the colorful and intricate designs I guess I have grown use to it

Every weekend they can be found in downtown locations selling their crafts

Search for "Huichol" there are many good pages, starting with wikipedia, and some sites selling crafts
