Well, a huge variation in prices all round the world...

(today's exchange rate)

Japan 1265000 JPY = 10469 €
Norway 93990 NOK = 9205 €
Netherlands 8999 € = 8999 €
USA 8000 $ = 7213 €

That's a fork of about 2800 € !!!

Now, the results of your estimates.
If a bracket  (Francis: 4000$ to 7000$) has been given, I have averaged it out to (low+high)/2 (=5500$ = 4959€)
All converted to €

1st Frank Fremerey: 5729 € (wins trip to Mars)
2nd Birna Rørslett: 5590 €
3rd Bill De Jager: 5407€
an then Erik, Francis, Nikfuson, Pluton, Aguinaldo (4959€ down to 4057€)

Fons, I don't have a converter for old currencies, I have to pull your estimate of f 2.93 :(

Ciao from Massimo

hello Massimo, I guess you have to work on your calculation again. Averages tend not to be lower than the lowest of the values you average.

11.000 + 7000 = 18000
half of which is 9000

plus: US Value is without VAT, the others include VAT

Where is the 11000 coming from?

Francis had made an estimate of 4000 to 7000 euros
LOW estimate=4000
HIGH estimate=7000
And you tell me that the average is 9000? (2000 above the high estimate!)

I stand on my 5500 = 11000 / 2
There is no VAT in the US as we have in Europe, maybe sales tax  (2% up to 10%)
Add 8% sales tax? OK that puts Francis in 4th place with 5355.72€
You still win the trip to Mars :)

First try with the beast turned out to be a positive experience!
Wickedly sharp from the start block and as the opening got smaller it only improved.
Bokeh as beautiful as one can wish for. Pics later.

Here’s one shot at f/0.95. Just lifted exposure a bit. This is via PS express on my phone.

Ok, back with more techie stuff. First plane of focus at ca. 2m. Pretty flat!
I've started a separate technical thread for my tests.
