Congrats on the heavy new gear Frank.  Is it dirty?

Monday check & clean at NPS, esp. the VR makes an unpleasent sound similar to my former rental 105VR

I think my back would make an unpleasant sound hauling that 200mm around.
Don’t forget to warm-up and stretch before sessions with it!

Im looking forward to seeing what you capture through those lenses.

Looks bigger. I'm off tomorrow to photograph rowers with the venerable 300mm f/2.8 ED-IF which is heavy enough.

Birna, it's a 2.9kg monster...

Frank, congrats on your purchase of new gear!

IIRC both are same weight, same size. 100mm more, one stop less...

The af-s 300mm f/2.8 does 3,1 kgs.
Do you go out with monopod or not?

I tried a tripod a few weeks back but rather clumsy so I most hand held or sat and rested it on a knee. Fortunately rowers travel mostly in a horizontal plane and always in the same direction. Z6 IBIS really helps.

Test shooting lenses in preparation for a journey into the world of false-colour IR emulated (IE) images. The 35-200/3.5-4.5 Nikkor normally is a good performer -- at least my copy is -- but didn't work too well on the IE test. There are too much residual chromatic aberrations and a tendency to form a hot spot. The search continues.

35-200/3.5-4.5 Nikkor @35mm, Fuji S5Pro.

(in case any one should wonder, the white stuff on ground is freshly fallen snow. Which loses a lot of its intense whiteness with IE)

Interesting Birna. Do you use an extra filter for the IE images?
