Carl, Your photo of the desert is impressive.  Dramatic scenery in your part of the world.  How often are the mountains snow-covered?  Cheers, John

It's a very good 'Crocus-year'.  In the past years they normally suffered from returning winterfrost.

The 55/2.8 AF  combines the strenghts of the MF and the 60 AF   and likes the D7200 too  ;)

Seldom to this degree. I mean Winter storms normally only provide  dusting of snow when they provide any snow at all in this area. The contrast between the desert floor and the very close by snowy peaks prompted me to grab the shot. It was snowing in Scottsdale and Cave Creek, and out in Malibu, California, I hear. Noteworthy storm, eh!

Below is what that same area looks like normally, although shot with my iPhone, not a DSLR @ 150mm like the snowy version.

Yesterday I took photographs of a rowing regatta. As you might know, to move as fast as possible and have a stable boat the rowers must be very synchronized. Usually from the shore it looks as if they are moving together as one. While it is true that they move together, they do turn outwards towards as they put the oars in the water to get the longest possible stroke. From this exaggerated angle, it almost looks like a conversation.

As a spectator, I'm always amazed at how fast the boat momentum is lost when the rowing stops. A real workout for the crew, I'm sure. Nice shot, Jack. :)

If the rowers drop and drag oars it can stop very quickly. If they keep them out of the water the boat can glide a considerable distance - perhaps up to 100 meters or so.

Looks a peaceful spot to anchor your houseboat.

Nice results with the 35-200mm f/3.5~4.5 Fons.
