April 6

Fine sunny day bright skies, but frosty mornings and a stiff easternly wind, we have stronger winds, also overland since years, due to a changing climate .

Freezing cold early morning, but when the sun came temperature rised. Still a cold wind in the morning.

John, is this a repository?  How old is it?  Beautiful pano.

Thanks Akira.

No, shot it this morning (packed the transportbike with some heavy lenses). However I visit this scene with  the six grave hills several times in a year, so perhaps you saw one of the other photographs related to the moore 'Regte Heide?  (http://nikongear.net/revival/index.php/topic,806.msg86302.html#msg86302)

John, thank you for the explanation and the link.  I might have missed the development of this otherwise very interesting thread you linked.

Maybe my use of the word "repository" was incorrect.  But the reason for my question is that the construction of the graveyard you shot as pano looks similar to the ancient ones built in Japan: circular hill surrounded by some sort of memorial signs.  In our case, the signs are potteries shaped like human beings, horses and sheds, and they are buried in the ground.

Thanks for you explanation, Akira.  Well. That is identical to Japan. It seems universal.

Inside the hills also some potteries and small 'weapons' were found.  How old are these findings in Japan? The Gravehills here are about 2.000 before Christ. Similar graveyards have been found in the surrounding countries, also circular and at a highest point in the land.

The circular graveyards in Japan are considered to have been built through 3rd to 7th centuries A.D.  So, they are not as old as those in Regte Heide.
