Apparently there currently is a 35-200 trend showing off the merits of that underestimated oldie.

Here with 35-200 on my broad-band Fuji S5Pro (false-colour IR). The snow lingers on. The snow pack is up to 2.5 m in depth.

Great shots. The 35-200 is indeed a remarkable lens.  Not much written is about the lens, there is an article in the 1001 nightshttp://imaging.nikon.com/history/story/0047/index.htm but the real eye-opener was the detailed analyses by Marco Cavina https://translate.google.nl/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=https://www.nital.it/nikkor-historical/35-200mm.php&prev=search

The 300/4.5 ED AI (or AI'd) is among those elusive Nikkor goodies of the past. I didn't know you had one, John.  Enjoy it.

Thanks Bjørn !!    After a very long search and a few lost auctions (which are pretty rare), I was finally able to obtain a fresh AI sample. One of the last produced.

It's unbelievable sharp and free from Chro. Ab. wide open, and comparable in sharpness with the 200/2 wide open.  Which is  a great asset if you like to shoot out of the hand :)

To get closer the PN-11 is the best method?               (6T gets you very close and PK11-PK12 have relatively little effect)

Palo Verde Trees in Bloom, Tucson, Arizona.
D850 with 105mm f/2.5 AI (chipped) at f/2.5, 1/500 sec, ISO 64.

Wildflowers are going to be weak this year, so I just wandered around my neighborhood for a while late in the day with the 105.
