Thank, John. The Postpile doesn't seem real when you see it in person. I thought the Zeiss would be a great lens to try and capture it with.

I had the old 15mm AI-S for awhile (a nice copy, with box/case), but eventually let it go back into the flowing waters of eBay because it just wasn't sharp or very convincing in color. Took it to Yosemite and was ultimately disappointed.

The thing about the Zeiss 15 is, when you blow the images up, the level of detail is almost uncanny for such a wide lens (at least compared to the venerable old 15mm AI-S). Color saturation is much improved also.

My girlfriend and I slept in a little late, and I was worried I missed the optimal light for that one ... but we arrived just before the sun came out over the top ... and so were favored with a bit of luck and soft, pastel light

Every other image we got that day was after the sun came up ... but the most important one was taken moments before

Isn't one of these pictures used in Win10 login screens? Just now I noticed that one, looked very similar. But couldn't take better look, since it was very short time screen only for system restart (2-3sec)

#2 is my favourite too. Not only cause I have some interest for geologic curiosities, but the framing is perfect with the chaos of prismatic stones as foregroud.
