The non-Milvus version of the Zeiss 15/2.8 is available at B&H (but seemingly no other retailers) for $1799 plus 4% rewards instead of $2950.

It's a helluva deal if you ask me ...

John - nice photos, both. I particularly like the light in the second one (Postpile). Ages since I last visited that spot.
Cheers, John

Thank, John. The Postpile doesn't seem real when you see it in person. I thought the Zeiss would be a great lens to try and capture it with.
I had the old 15mm AI-S for awhile (a nice copy, with box/case), but eventually let it go back into the flowing waters of eBay because it just wasn't sharp or very convincing in color. Took it to Yosemite and was ultimately disappointed.
The thing about the Zeiss 15 is, when you blow the images up, the level of detail is almost uncanny for such a wide lens (at least compared to the venerable old 15mm AI-S). Color saturation is much improved also.
Here's another from the same area:

Blown-up, the detail on the tree trunk looks like it was taken with a macro, not an ultra-wide :o

Seems to be a Gem. Yet: I already own more lenses than I need for my work, so no intention of yet aquiring more. Thank you for sharing these pictures, esp. the second one!

The second picture is nice beyond just being an example for what the lens delivers. Thanks for showing!

Thank you both ... glad you enjoyed :D
My girlfriend and I slept in a little late, and I was worried I missed the optimal light for that one ... but we arrived just before the sun came out over the top ... and so were favored with a bit of luck and soft, pastel light :)
Every other image we got that day was after the sun came up ... but the most important one was taken moments before :)

This a wonderful lens. Great photos above :-)
Here are two I took earlier this year in Zambia with the 15mm Zeiss f2.8AIP Distagon on the Nikon Df

wondeeful shots, Woody

Thank you Frank. I have bold plans for granitic landscapes with this prime. Still organising grad filters...

Spent the last 5 days @ Zion National Park, in Utah ... here are a few from the subject lens:

Thanks ... which one? :)

Isn't one of these pictures used in Win10 login screens? Just now I noticed that one, looked very similar. But couldn't take better look, since it was very short time screen only for system restart (2-3sec)
-
Fantastic landscape, John !
#2 is my favourite too. Not only cause I have some interest for geologic curiosities, but the framing is perfect with the chaos of prismatic stones as foregroud.
Any ''brownies to catch in this river ? ;D

Great view of this granitic water bed, Woody ! ;)

Fantastic results you brought home John!

If you asked me-ALL OF THEM!!!

Uh, no, so I guess your handle suits you.
There are scores of photographers who walk The Narrows ... so it's not surprising that someone else might have taken a similar shot from a similar place within.
Anyone can right-click and examine the EXIF and check if they'd like. (I guess I Photoshopped my girlfriend and me into one too, lol.)

Very nice set off pictures that shows how good this glass is (and the photographer of course).
Thank you for posting.
I could have saved a lot if I have not bought it some 3 years ago.

Yes, but being able to shoot this lens for 3 straight years is worth FAR more than missing the opportunities for 3 years, only to get a discount :D
It's a GREAT lens, I agree ;D
