Yes, that true multi format is a real bonus. In the case of the GH1 it really stretches the limits with 4352 pix wide in 16:9. And it's easy to select the desired format.
Think Panasonic hit the limits of the M4/3 sensor with the introduction of the GH1 and the 100 ISO.
