Thanks, Frank. Yes, I was interested in the view, while I was waiting for the concert to start and strolling around.

It is very difficult to keep the lines inside the frame working together. You managed to. I will save tge file as educational for later reference. Parallells and crossing lines and lines that will cross some day outside the frame. Very very clever.

2 December 2016
For 30 years now Karl-Josef Dreesen creates a "political crib" made of wood figures to comment on current sociological developments. Last year the topic was "Refugees" this year it is "black & white" commenting on the decomposition of some societies into groups that lose connection to one another, but also on general behaviour and judgement patterns "seeing black & white". He told me this morning about the history of the figures and how he came to make these moving cribs. Every Saturday he changes the composition so that the mass visitors on Sunday can see the development. I chose to show the first installation here due to change in two days...

Thanks again. I tried subtly different orientations and the ones I discarded looked very chaotic. The posted one has the two horizontal lines (the raised railway with the train and the bar with the traffic signs) at the top of the frame which seem to stabilize the geometry.

Thanks Frank and Fons.
Fons, great portrait and rose
Frank: Crispy christmas figures, giving hope for a happy winter ;) -- the pano works well.
Akira: Nice geometry and shadows. You like the 45P ?
Andrew: Silent snowfall at night, nice. The winter really started there?
-
The Micro Nikkor 55mm/3.5 has a wonderful rendering
And definition. Not in my collection...
-
Akira: Nice geometry and shadows. You like the 45P ?
John, thanks. I used to use the 45P on F100 and already liked it. It doesn't interfere with my upper arm when I hang my D750/45P combo from the shoulder. It is difficult to focus, but thankfully the "green dot" on D750 is very reliable. It is a perfect walk around lens in the true sense of the word!
The 55/3.5 with the compensated aperture is one of the greatest Micro Nikkors. Your shot reassures that. I love the color, too.
-
Thanks Frank and Akira. Tested a few lenses (despite the rainy conditions), the 1963 55mm Micro had the right DOF (giving the light conditions), best colours and rendering. It made the scene shine.
45P is ideal for walking around yes ;) It has the same critical focus behaviour as the Voightlanders 58/1.4 and 90/3.5 The green dot helps a lot and reframing works also great. Focussing with the Df is easier thanks to the better focus-screen.

Thank you.
I am just editing the rest.
Should possibly have taken more that one camera one lens ;-)
I only took the D500 and the 85mm
I thought there would be like four to six players, but this year it outgrew the previous years and 22 hit the center of our little "village" and more than 100 people listening, eating & drinking!
This is a voluntary band, completely non profit but involving a lot of really good musicians from several music colleges.
They do it for the fun!

that fuji camera still delivers,

Great camera, special sensor, beautiful colours, very good white balance and very high dynamic range especially in the highlights. Swapped it for the Nex 5 R - best swap ever ;)
Battery usage is better than the D700, very fast CF card (60 MB/s) compensates for the slowness. Playback is useless, it's like back to the film-days. Demands very good lenses and good technique at ISO 100.

Thanks Fons and Frank.
A large number of raw-converters can't handle the Fuji S5 files. ACR can. Also s7Raw is useful and creates a 4.256 x 2.848 - 80.2MB 16-bit Tif - file. That software can even identify the R and S pixel, where the S pixel picks up the brightest details. That brightest details makes the sensor unique. Plus the fact the S5 accepts all Nikkor lenses.
Very interesting Pano, Frank
That must be a high ISO fish, Fons, or is it the IR-effect?

-
Fons: I am confused and I can explain why. These are the situations people who love super shallow depth of field tend to get into. Where do I put the center of sharpness? How to I relate the elements?
In this monochromous image reduction is already there in color, you got a kind of Door / Gateway in the back and a kind of key like structure in front. I feel the center of sharpness should be on the inflorescence

Gosh!
Do you find the "valuable" red VW Beetle under the cardboard boxes?

Frank, what happened? Did your house burn down?
-
The ex-tenant of the ex-owners of my garage tried to get the motor from a VW T3 when the gasoline conducting pipe broke and the gasoline hit the heater and burst into flames. The place was the cave if a messie before the burning obviously. I have a court ruling he should have emptied and left the place in May but did not. So I have to send a court officer to do the job....
Law says tenant has to pay but frankly I do not know if tenant has any money ...
-
Sorry to hear that! Hope you wil get it sought out smoothly.

For me photography is hardly a documentary thing, it is contrast, the peculiar within the ordinary, beyond concept, the futility of mans' judgmental projections and all that, thanks for the commenting Frank, that's a sign of life for me, after all we are human.

Yes. A great effort, stunnning results, sometimes confusing. I learned I cannot take a good shot everyday but some days it hits me and I take a lot. I also learned I think in series & that on some days I simply cannot motivate myself to take any shot.
Challenges? No. I suspect my baker accidentially put wheat into the 100% rye bread which greatly improved the taste but caused a strong allergic reaction in me, symptoms of which feel like a depression. Doctors have not come to a final conclusion yet. My guess is that some bacteria in my guts intake wheat and output some chemical that poisens me. After a few hours this goes away and there will be blood in the toilet tomorrow. All that can be avoided by not eating wheat, which I normally do.... So nothing unusual or unknown, had that been there try to not go there if possible.

What an impression when I came home in the morning and it was still dark at roughly 9.20 ... the only thing light warm and friendly was the star. My oh my. Intresting Akira. In a greenhouse?
John, no, it was shot outside. I don't know which species it is, but it was very well dried for sure. :D

Yup, worked in the past a lot with the FZ's as back-up camera before M4/3 arrived. GH1 is cheap (if you'r lucky), still one of the best M4/3 sensors around with 100 base ISO and more portable than later models (which have 200 ISO and are larger and heavier), acceptable and good viewfinder with zoom options, and ability to mount a lot a lenses, cause the shorter flange distance compared to Nikon F. It has of course drawbacks compared to full frame, but that are the challenges ;)

This must be the work of the devil! Germans would never do this. This offends the half of me to the core.
Dave Hartman who's last name is misspelled... the family changed the spelling while on the steamship to America.

Nice combo! On a m4/3 camera, the 45P behaves like Leiz 90/4.0 Elmar on a full frame sensor. :)

Have a GX1 which i have never seem to use for various reasons,(no viewfinder, terrible menu, too lightweight), should get that adapter for f lenses.

I have a bunch of fotos like from Brussels yesterday, but have grown somewhat reluctant posting them.

haha. Thanks! Well it's a relative small combination with the adapter. I got the 25/1.7 as well, the seller had a bargain because of a stuck filter (which was relatively easy to remove). Need to have the RAWs to my liking, colours are too saturated with too much reds to my taste, and exposure is also different compared to the Nikon's.

I agree on the unlogical menu (it helps I used the FZ's extensively) A (good) viewfinder is essential for every day use for my needs, luckily the GH1 has a good one. It's combination with LCD display and viewfinder works very effective too. I think an adapter is very welcome ;) I am thinking of a speedbooster but they are way too expensive and hardly to be seen second hand.

Currently I don't have any m4/3 camera, but I have used Panasonic G1, GH2, GF5 and GX8 as well as Olympus E-M5 MkII. I have the impression that the light meters of Panasonic cameras have been excellent. Their dynamic range is much narrower than any APS-C or full frame cameras, but the meter makes full use of the narrow DR very well.
I miss the true multi-format sensor of GH1 and GH2 with which all 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 formats can retain the same diagonal AOV. I could switch from 4:3 to 16:9 to go a bit wider horizontally without changing the lens, which was very handy. This system should also be advantageous for a video-still hybrid cameras.
So, I still keep my Nikon F to m4/3 mount adapter. :)
-
Yes, that true multi format is a real bonus. In the case of the GH1 it really stretches the limits with 4352 pix wide in 16:9. And it's easy to select the desired format.
Think Panasonic hit the limits of the M4/3 sensor with the introduction of the GH1 and the 100 ISO.
Interesting comparision here: http://cjeastwd.blogspot.nl/2016/03/gh1-vs-gh4-generations.html (http://cjeastwd.blogspot.nl/2016/03/gh1-vs-gh4-generations.html)
