The Df and the Angenieux were able to capture details from the 'dark' as it was underexposed.

This is a crop of another shot. I couldn't get too close to prevent a bee-attack ;)  so it's at 70mm.

Thanks, John

Bruno - I'm a bit impressed by the IQ of your phone.
Thanks, Lars. I picked it up for that but I'm often surprised too. It gives a 20+MB DNG file but the in camera jpg is most of the time good enough with a few tweaks from the basic phone editor.

The structure of your nice Pokeweed and bee made me think of the grapes slowly growing on a wall.

This lens seems to be very interesting on the D600. I am tempted to buy the 1.4/58mm but the 1.2/55 seems to be a very interesting option too...

The 55mm f1,2, any version really, is a very interesting lens. As well as a lens I use a lot. It is usable wide open already, but becomes really sharp and contrasty at f2 and then turns into a very well controlled sharp lens at f5,6, so you could use it dreamy/swirly and glowing at f1,2, decied to use the still limited DoF with a very sharp subject at f2 or make excellent landscape shots at f5,6. Everything goes.

I know Chris Dees also likes his copy, and he recently had a copy for sale so you might contact him about that to see if he still has it.

John, lovely smooth background rendering. You hit the focus on both, which is quite good knowing how the DoF is thinner then what the focus screen on your Df shows you.

Frank, looking forward to what you can do with all those rolls of film :)

If however you are after a lens with a unique and special (read creative) look, you might want to either pick up the 55mm f1,2 or go all the way and look for a 5,8cm f1,4 Nikkor-S. That one will have to be converted to Ai if it has not been done by the previous owner. Ai conversion should be about 30 minutes work and I could help you with that if you decide to go that route.

Thanks Buddy. There is a little more room with fast moving cats at f/1.4  ;)  The focus-screen of the Df is actually very good.

Great stuff Harald.  The Samyang reminds me of the rendering of the Voigtlander Nokton.

We will see. Lots of factors. Main problem as always: There I days on which I see and others when I am blind...

On the topic of meeting of the generations, no aperture ring on the 300mm ;)
