I might bite as I am kind of in the market for a new laptop, as mine is has been giving me some issues for the past year. One has no way of knowing when my mac will be over the hill - 1 month or 12.

The new mac isn't listed with a price in SA yet - but it is bound to be at least 800$ more here - if not more.  I have the opportunity to get one from B&H via a friend - so I am seriously considering this purchase. Any reason why I shouldnt?

Will the Macbook pro 2016 compatible with Photoshop CS6?
Any other programs that you are aware of that won't work?

They certainly make some interesting choices. They seem to have a fetish for thin devices. If they kan make a device thinner, they do it. For both my iPhone and the new MBP, I'd rather have a slightly thicker device and a bigger battery. A bigger battery would also make it possible to add more RAM and perhaps an even faster GPU. That's just me though, I'm sure others are of a different opinion :)
I've been using a MacBook Air the last 7 years so the specs of any of the new pro books will be more than enough, so for me the less is more approach works just fine. The 13" pro model is even smaller than my 13" MBA which is simply amazing with all that extra hardware on board.

At work though a lot of developers use the MacBook Pro's with a lot of virtual OS sessions and such for dev and testing purposes, I suppose they wouldn't mind some extra RAM and horsepower. Probably the same goes for the videographers, game developers, etc.
Cheers,
Jan Anne

You should verify, if your screen calibration hardware/software is compatible with the new Macs.

Good point. But then again - if it isn't - I am just delaying the inevitable.

New MBP indicates a direction that Apple is going - here's a review that confirms why I'll be keeping my 2013!

I was hoping to see 2014 or 2015 models on the used market to become an attractive proposition with the new release, but somehow I fear this will not happen due to the poor design and price/value ratio of the new MBP.
Apple increasingly seems to have lost its magic appeal. What remains is the high (outrageous?) price.

One odd thing is that they claim the same 10 hour battery life for the 3 models, but the cheap model without the touchbar, have a lower power CPU and a bigger battery.

I am seriously in two minds here - mid 2015 version - or new 2016 version...

Will the new one be compatible with CS6? Apparently it does work - but Adobe didnt pay specific attention to making it compatible.

Any thoughts PLEASE?????

Why shouldn't it be? Same fundamental processor and memory technology should be present and the OS is evolving not redesigned from scratch. As long as you have your legit license and Adobe keep their activation servers alive, you should be just fine. For the time being. That is the dark side of software requiring activation.
