a 1950 KMZ Jupiter-3, made in Germany in 1945, and made fit for use by me. The focal length was too short to focus in the original Contax mount, the threads were mismatced, sewing thread used to hold it in. Glass set in a new fixture, modified to Leica standard focal length and set in a Leica focus mount.

I understand about being caught up in variations of lenses. I have a "Fifty-Fifty" collection of Sonnar formula lenses that span from 1934 through to 2016, made by Carl Zeiss Jena, Zeiss Opton, Zeiss/Cosina, Nikon, Canon, Tanack, KMZ, ZOMZ, Valdai, Walz, and now Zenit. Thirty 5cm/50mm in Leica mount alone.

I got lucky on this one... "Four Nikon lenses"... The other three 35/2 Ai, 105/2.5 Ai'd, and 50/1.8 E were worth the BIN price.

Infrared. Prototype RCA Type C-1 Infrared Scope, circa 1942 and Kodak DCS200ir- 1st one sold. I worked with digital Infrared in the 1980s, the RCA scope was a "mascot" attained from surplus many years before I started on the project. I inherited it from an engineer. The Kodak- called them and had it made, was the first one sold. Both still work.

About a 1922 Ica camera (or it could be a little later). It is a magnificently built instrument of incredible quality and everything is perfectly intact.

About 10 years ago, Mongo modified it to make a 13cm X 6cm image (and modified film advance mechanism). Also changed the lens to one of his Nikkor 120mm f5.6 AM-ED lenses. Used it for a while to shoot panorama-like images using medium format slide film. All the modification were made in a way that the camera can be very easily returned to its original condition.

This B&W image is deliberately grainy and intended to look "old" as the image was taken for a particular purpose at that time some years ago.

Simone: I paid 200€ and I got 200€ back, inbetween I had fun with it for many years, sold pictures I shot with it, so the business side was OK....

It is just that High Performance glass tends to be so very big and heavy these days.

So I am very happy to have bought the 35/1.4 Ai-S from Chris Dees here.

Here is a "portrait of my new "always on" ...

D600 and the Nikkor 35/2 K  version.  I had an Ai sample but that flared enormously. This one performs much better including stars in the sun and without flare. Can also be due to the sample-diversification, I guess...

With the money from de sell to Frank (and a little more) I got this mint+ Nikkor-N 35/1.4 factory AI-d (9 blades).
Perhaps a nice candidate for the chipping service. :D
