#19 is great, translucent plus black spectre, a lot of details, gradual light changes and local contrast.
#18 gives me to think about the fading center.

Sheer luck

Was doing my usual stuff of shooting animal portraits of animals sitting in a spot of sunlight against a shadow background when he decided to look up and open his beak. Kept focussed on getting the shots I did envision so completely forgot about this image, once home I was pleasantly surprised when I found it

Ok I think this qualifies as backlit. Though many dismiss the 105mm VR as not ideal for macros, I find it makes quite a good med-tele.

The challenge for you dear viewer, is to come up with an explanation of what was happening here

I wouldn't normally have considered this as backlit, but I think a wider interpretation is being taken by some in this thread so....

I love attempting BIF but in the uk, sunlight & clouds conspire to give such changing light levels that many of my birds taken against the sky are often burned out, or too underexposed.
