Thanks John, 105mm was just perfect for this venue.  Am I the only one seeing the black backgrounds appearing as crushed noise?  It appears black to me when I view the originals, can anyone tell me where the issue is likely stemming from?

Crushed noise, how do you mean?

On a MCP retina the only background noise I see is in the skin tones of the first image. The blacks look black from here. 

Nice shots.

Very nice shots with awesome light, action and raw emotion.

Have you tested your image provider, I know Flickr compresses the smaller then original images so usually post the originals.

The noise was inly showing up on one monitor I viewed it on, not on my calibrated monitors.  Non-issue.

Akira, that is Greg Wilkinson of Earhammer Studio fame, playing in his band Brainoil.  He is also in Deathgrave.  Really awesome and nice man.  He did some recording for Smash Your Face, a japanese band, when they came here last.  They are a very entertaining band to watch!

 Emotion coming out of the frame, very good to excellent exposure. You know your craft and you know your subject. There is passion there!
