One might think so as the glass window areas are generously large.
As it happens it had been an industrial building - Bochum is part of  The Ruhr in Germany. Formerly a coal and steel manufacturing zone.
Now it seems to be used as storehouse.

Today we had the start of the storm from across the Atlantic, set to last three days it seems...

Nearby there is an old river barge 'Oakdale' which an old chap called Dave and his white Alsatian lives on, I have been a bit concerned for his welfare because I had not been able to raise him yesterday, I knew he must be on board because his boarding ladder was neatly stowed on the cabin roof.

This morning the blow started.  High tide was for about one O'clock so I went down to check if his bilge pumps were working, a sure sign that he was active.  To my great relief I saw water spewing from three outlets, so I went back for my camera.

Struggling a bit here Flicker is in a silly mode?

Thanks for the comment, John.
I like the atmosphere, Anirban, even if breathing it probably quite difficult :).
Very nice OOF of the electric line, John. I like the contrast with the detail of the Tipha.

Very busy day today. I only had the time to grab a few smartphone shots of a big satellite reception antenna next to the building of my last meeting. View of the inside of the parabola. Lumia 930, jpg.

Thanks John! :)
Reply #389 is beautiful. Especially I like because of the electric lines, not too blur, not too vivid.

Thanks for the comment, John.

Thanks a lot, Bruno. It was difficult. I quickly dispersed; don't want these things in my lungs  :D

Well done Anirban. Good exposure, good composition, good documentation. I applaud that you saw and captured the story, again well done. (But, some food for thought ... I might have tried a longer lens to compress the image. The dogs in the background are a very interesting element, a longer lens would/may have made them a bit more prominent and the compression may have added more drama, more impact.)

Thank you Gary. And thanks for the big "but". I will certainly keep that advice in mind. Honestly, I missed the dogs. Thanks again!

Jan 26th:
Smoke, fog and lady in burkha. It's habit for some people to burn rubbish early morning by road side. Not sure why. Polluting the city already polluted to the core!!

the pollution makes for the atmosphere. Dirt. People. Dogs. Great footage!
