Hi you all !! 👋🏼
Here’s some random shots I just found on my iPad! Most are from when I started with photography again after a few years of illness, in 2010. Shot with my D2X and Tokina AT-X PRO 11-16 2.8. The solar eclipse shot is a few years old, shot with my D800E and 300 2.8 vr with Bjørn’s TC-20E III (2xTC). The none-moon image is also a few years old, my wife was just walking towards me with a flashlight hanged on a bit of a tiny rope, so it could move a bit randomly.. D800E and ... That I don’t remember, but, it looks like I used a 24-70 2.8 at 24mm..

Have a nice sunday everyone!!! 😊👋🏼

Nice colors Akira.

I don’t know what it says about me as a photographer, but even though I fished out the tripod and mounted my longest lens before going to bed last night, when the time came I was content to lie in bed and watch the shadows soften until the dimming moon disappeared behind a slender tree.

For the sun and the moon the eclipse is less than a heartbeat in their unwavering dance of millions of lifetimes.

Thanks, Jack.

The astral pageants like solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, transit of Venus etc. are fantastic opportunities to realize the universe in more exciting ways.

Yes they are. I’m particularly fond of the solstices.
Today it was more rewarding for me  to observe the moon rather than record it.

Solstices can be more interesting than lunar eclipses, because the former causes the dramatic change of the lighting on the landscapes as well.  Maybe the lunar eclipse is enticing, nevertheless, because it is much more "silent".  :)

The Eclipse arrived with beautiful clear weather here in Fairbanks, and on top of that it had warmed from from -32°C to a balmy -20°C. I had a really good time doing these captures and as an additional bonus some aurora showed up. I set up with the 300PF +TC-14E on the Skytracker at a nearby lake with free view to south-west. My only trouble was that precise focusing was tricky because of the unsteady seeing.

I also tried using the AW1 for higher pixel density, but on this occasion it suffered from limitation of the the shutter speed to 1.3 seconds with the FT-1.

After the fact (I did not zoom in far enough in Stellarium) I became aware that there was supposed to be a nice star cluster (M44, the Beehive cluster) close to the moon during the eclipse. The messages so far in the DPReview astro forum indicates that it would have been tricky to expose both the moon and those small stars correctly. However here is a crop of a wideangle capture with overexposed moon showing what potentially could have been a nice frame:

You both did well with the eclipse.
We were lucky to have only partly covered skies in Singapore and could therefore enjoy a nice view as well. We climbed on the rooftop of our building and had a beautiful show, the eclipsed moon over the business district. Here is a shot taken with the X-T1 and 18-55 kit lens.

Øivind, these are exemplary captures!  The setup image (#1) is a nice report of your shooting environment.

Olivier, I love your tasteful way to included the cityscape!

Akira, you, did really well with only 200mm focal length and no tracker.
Oliver, nice capture, the structure in the foreground creates an interesting effect.

Thanks both of you and to Erik and Amando for the enthusiastic comments. The tracker was a great help in capturing these, with no need to crank up ISO during the total phase. I had been looking forward to try it on a lunar eclipse after getting it and it did no disappoint.  I am sorry for your cloudy sky Amando; I did not realize it would potentially be visible that far south, could have given some nice opportunities with position close to the horizon.

Øivind, thank you.  I was lucky.  Apparently the sharpness in the center of the lens, the dense sensor and the decent noise performance helped.  :)

Super Blue Blood Moon over Picacho Peak, Arizona
Nikon D850 with 70-200 f/4G at 100mm, f/4.0, 2.0 sec, ISO 800

Did not have the focus spot on, but you probably can't tell at this size.
