So, what cameras are you using nowadays?

After a lot of stray in the past months, I settled on an FX DSLR by switching back to Nikon.  Now my main all-round kit is D750 and AF-S50/1.8G.  Both are calibrated at Nikon Service, and the discrepancy between the AF module and the image plane that I had suffered when I used DSLRs last time (D7000 and D610) is finally gone now.

Along with the versatile 50/1.8, I enjoy shooting with the venerable Nikkor-Q C 200mm/f4.0 tele and Ai Nikkor 20mm/4.0 superwide.  Both cope admirably with the 24MP FX sensor.  The "green dot" of the calibrated D750 is very reliable even with the 200mm lens.

Akira. Until we see real results from the D5 we can safely assume that the 24M sensor is the best horse in
Nikon's Stable. Great resolution and wonderful tonality.

An a7RII was added to the a7S, a bigger brother in every sense of the word; bigger body, bigger grip, bigger viewfinder, 30 more MP's, stabilized sensor, bigger AF spread with a couple hundred Phase Detect AF points, etc, etc.

Autofocus is so much faster compared to the a7S, which is no surprise as this was the main reason to buy the a7RII. With the 35/1.4 FE focus is instant and a lot more reliable in low light.

ISO performance seems to be very good at ISO6400 which should be enough for my intended use with the mentioned f/1.4 lens.

Retired and sold some old camera's and been looking around for a Nikon in the 5... or 7... class. After numerous checking and testing the conclusion was the D600. The ridiculous low price of a nearly mint D600 and it's very high IQ were the main reasons.

As I photograph many different subjects and in various ranges of the spectrum, I need and use many different cameras.

The Nikon Df is my main workhorse these last years, but for visible work I also employ D3X, D3S, D800, and there is the D500 on order hopefully allocated for delivery in the first batch in April. Much of the mundane product shot-for-web in studio is with a old and still fully functional D2H. For the unpredictable weather, 1 Nikon AW, for leisure 1 Nikon V1 or even a AW100 Coolpix. In UV, Panasonic GH-2 (mainly for UV video), Nikon D3200, D600, and Fuji S3 Pro; for IR, Fuji S3 Pro, Nikon D5300, D40x, D200, and the Panasonics.

I try to convince myself to like and accept a Sony A7 in order to deploy my dear old S-mount Nikkors but so far not with much success. The A7 also takes on some of the exotic lenses in my arsenal together with a NEX-3, Panasonic GF-1, GH-2, and some specially modified Panasonics and Nikon V1 (these with altered mount to M42 so I can put the strangest optical contraptions on them).

I guess the above indicates I have a very wide view of what constitutes a "good" [digital] camera for me. In the film days, the combination of Nikon F or F2 [Titan] plus a Nikon S3/SP was my preferred choice, unless I did large-format work with Arca F-Line view cameras. Also have Hasselblad Xpan, Bessa R2C, and if I search the premises, probably an ancient Leica or Contax.

Well, theoretically, yes.  Idealistically I would want an Ai-modified 9-blade Sonnar type.  (Do I require too much?!)

Yes, I think 24MP sensor is today's best compromise between resolution and low light performance. Also, it is not too demanding on the vintage lenses.

Sure the best bank for the buck currently. Some of these go for below 700 Euros ... and Nikon will replace the shutter unit free of charge if you ask them to ...

I am extremly happy with that cam. Only the AF-unit leaves a lot to wish for ... anyway. I use her with MF glass most of the time currently!

Perfect AF doesn't exist, perfect MF does    Yes, I am positively surprised by it's speed, quality and versatility. The 24mp files are very clean. Comparing specs with the D750 it's not far off, DxO*  even rates it higher.       *for what's it worth...

My workhorse is the Nikon D7100 that I use for all types of photography (nature, people, events, flash,...).
The Coolpix A is my compact camera and with a SB400 it is relatively flexible. I gave it a Panda outfit and while it looks very nice, it gets too much attention ruling it allmost out as a street camera.
The Sony A7 is my dedicated MF lens camera. It really shines with my Nikkors, Contax Zeiss and Zuiko lenses (sometimes still struggle getting the colours to my liking vs. my Nikons).
My recently acquired J5 will very likely become my street camera. Small, quick and unobtrusive.
