I am in line for a change. The X100T is a breeze to use.
Settings.
Taking pictures.
Image Review.
All without taking the eye from the view finder.
With the Nikons I either refrain from Image review or I have to
switch between glasses and non glasses all the time.
I hate it more and more.

If I was hankering for an up-to-date DX body, I'd certainly wait through January, in case some of the so-called rumors(advance publicity?) turn out to be true.

And or for holiday returns from people that over-bought cameras and are returning them or selling them!

We should accept the cameras one uses are expressions of usefulness for the individual not a confirmation of superiority of one choice over another.

After 2 years of heavy use, I still prefer the Df to most other options. Does that mean the Df is perfect? Of course not. Just that my response to the Df is synergetic in a manner many alternatives lack.

Another enjoyable camera is the Fuji S3 Pro (I have the 'Limited Edition' UVIR). Enjoyable despite the camera is quaint (nearly 10 years old), with a poor viewfinder, eats batteries, has the worst LiveView implementation ever, a dubious and trumped-up "12 MPix" resolution, and RAW files almost impossible to process with modern software. Still, I bond with the camera and have taken some of my best photographs ever with the Fuji.

My old and trusty FM-2 is only used for 1 roll per year. But I still love it's simplicity, compactness and build.
I've had it fully serviced by Nikon Switzerland two years ago and it's ready to serve many more years to come.

The Df certainly brings back some of the controls we used to have.
Should there be a next gen Df I'd like to see a hybrid optical / electronic viewfinder.
I'm not sure if this would be feasible with a reflex concept.

So, Nikon D810 - used for landscape, birds and surfing
Leica M-P - travel and street
ALPA TC - actually kinda juggling what I want to do with this potentially bank breaking setup

There is indeed a deeper meaning : not "mine" as a marker of property, but appropriation. Also applicable here.

I am with you on the Hybrid VF.  I do not use my Df for much where the OFV is a big plus over the EVF of the EM1 or a7II but I sure like some of the MF aids in the latter two  .  I also love seeing my settings adjustments as I make them in the EVF.

My FM was murdered by a friend when he dropped it onto some rocks below  .  That was my last SLR until the D200 in 2007 .

A hybrid viewfinder would be the best of both worlds for me. It may add quite a bit to the cost tough.
Let's hope Nikon have some breakthrough products up their sleeves for the 100th anniversary in 2017.
This could well be the point in time to introduce a mirrorless system and new mount.
It certainly is a tricky one for Nikon who admirably preserved the F mount to this time.
So how can you introduce something new without pissing off millions of loyal users?
I'm sure this has robbed the sleep of engineers and marketeers alike.

I am just a family man and have cameras for that.
A D700 with grip for everything sportsrelated and when it gets darkish.
A D3200 with the green button for the wife that just wants to press the shutter button and not think
Have gotten a few flashes lately and the yongnuo 622n and commander (tx) to start playing with light on the d3200 as well, works very well.

Currently the D4S and D800E form the main pair of bodies, D4S when  weight and size does not matter and speed is needed, D800 E for everything that deserves high resolution but also for telephotography with quick switch option to DX mode. Still have the D700 in use for walkaround, and the D300 as a travel camera when I am not willing take much care. A modified D200 serves for UV/IR purposes.
A Df might take the D700s role soon.

Update. Second hand market in the Netherlands approved for selling the D700 compared to the beginning of 2015. Was able to sell them around the purchased price.
Replaced them by a nearly mint Nikon Df  and Nikon D800E which came on the market at attractive prices.

It's a very good combination to my idea; the versatility and flexibility of the  Df and the sharp, fast and high resolution D800E. And both being smaller than the D700 they fit perfectly in one bag.

Kodak DCS760, D300 and D700. The old Kodak beast still works well, but it is heavy and the battery packs needed for extended use makes it even worse.

DSLR- Nikon Df, I still keep a Nikon D1, Nikon E3, and Kodak DCS200ir all in working order.

digital RF- Leica M9, M Monochrom, and M8. The latter- always use in "Raw" mode with M8RAW2DNG.

Mirrorless- EPM1, EP2, and full-spectrum converted EP2.
