An exercise in frustration
« on: February 17, 2022, 12:37:13 »
Several times now, over the past few weeks I've had this error message on NG.
Always when I'm viewing it on Chrome on an Android tablet
(I don't get issues with other sites)

Birna offered some initial comments.

On the plus side, you can go back & find your un-posted message still there.
I've tried copying the text, then trying to do a fresh post.

But there's obviously some feature of our forum that looks out for multiple postings of the same text, as I then get this message
(even though the fist attempt never actually got posted!!!)

We probably have encountered these`messages one or more times, to me, i found the best action was to delete the unposted and to start over anew.

It is possible that there is a corrupt or broken table in the database - admin needs to check.

Thanks Fons & Chris

I'm happy to accept that mobile versions of browsers can be the cause of problems, so assumed I'd need to flush caches, reinstall etc.

Its useful to know you've seen these.
Having worked with software in the past, I appreciate this may not be down to anything the Nikongear team can control.

Hi,
Looks like you are using a non standard Theme, try switching to Revival. My best guess, sorry if it doesn't help.

Might be a timing issue, I do get the occasional error when waiting too long before posting a reply.

Is this also the case here or does it also happen with replies posted immediately?
Cheers,
Jan Anne

I’ve had it occasionally too with the standard template on a laptop. It always seems to involve a picture, AFAIR.

Not a big deal to solve, i cancel the post and redo and it works.

Might be a timing issue, I do get the occasional error when ?

On one occasion there were several minutes between starting the message and trying to post it.
But once you get it, you can go back, tweak, post 3 secs later and the error repeats.

Every times its occurred, I've been quoting another post.
Don't know if that's a possible cause?

Not a big deal to solve, i cancel the post and redo and it works.

Well, I've tried copying the text of the failed message & starting a new post.
That also got the error.
But when I remove the quoted section, it was accepted...... ::)

Thanks for the suggestion Eric.
I've switched over. It is indeed a brighter way to work!

Thanks to others for the suggestions - i'll sit tight, but let you know if it recurs

I have tried to post a picture in the thread "Show birds" several times during the last couple of days, but with no success. When I have pressed post, I just get a blank page - and no upload. I have tried to change the theme to "Revival", but that didn't help. Quite frustrating!
