And speaking for myself only, I'm hoping the Df successor has a prism and mirror. :)

Tick Tracy has his 2-Way wrist TV. Why can't I have a solid state reflex mirror?

I never liked the Df, I don’t like an EVF, and Dx is out of the question. I’m afraid this camera is not for me  ;)

I recall that the Df was also popular among young people in Japan some of whom may not have experienced this type of a camera (user interface) before.

Ignoring the retro look and feel of the Z fc why might one buy a Z fc over a Z 50?

Dial controls, better flippy screen, USB-C, Eye-AF for video, looks better.

Also wide area AF with eye detection.

A good report!
But I disagree with the front wheel. Although the one of Df ismore beautiful design wise it is a nightmare ergonomically (wrote economically first hihihi - uh was i tired) - so I am glad that they have made it this way (as it was rumored for the Df2 that never came)
It is really a great looking camera

+1, Wolfgang, the front wheel of my df has always been a nightmare to use ! Not comfortable, not ergonomically and (I think so) not really esthetically designed !

The front wheel of this Z-fc seems more discrete and probably more ergonomic ! It seems pretty close to the front wheel of the Fuji-XT or XE cameras...

The more I see the Z fc the more I think about buying one !

MAP Camera published an interesting interview with Nikon on the new Nikon Z fc camera :

https://news.mapcamera.com/maptimes/zfc_interview/ (in Japanese but Google translate works well)

Of note is that because it has no grip (which usually houses the battery), the battery had to be moved so there is very little space inside the camera. That meant there was no space for IBIS. Nikon is considering an FX version based on customer feedback.

i am liking it a lot! looks like adding an mb-12 to it is a nice project :o :o :o
Very nice observation, but what made you think that migrating from 24/2 lens on FF making it f3.0 on DX body? Do you really mean DOF? THX!  LZ

the shutter sounds rather noisy, now i know that it was intended to be that way :o :o :o

i was at the park yesterday and i saw a youngster with a Zfc, looks like it hit the intended market ::)
very tempted to buy but i could not justify its use and expense at the moment.
still looking for a Nikkor-N 5cm f/1.1, if somebody has one to sell me please give me a nice offer.
Nelson (unrelated to me) really likes the 45/2.8P it seems.
