Digging for two. Or something like that.
The ubiquitous Nikkor 40mm f/2 on my modifed Z5 was pressed into service again. One can never be sure what the lens delivers and that's part of its charm. No need to worry about IR hotspots either.

Ian, if you chose a better angle you could use foreshortening to make your dog look a little less long.
Do I get extra credit for alliteration?

Many thanks Fons - did you solve the Zf AF issues?
For the greater part i have tackled the issue by locking the focus point in a central position. Over
time i noticed that it s a thing that happens more often among the mirrorless also different brands like Sony etc.
Cameras misfocus or don't focus at all, etc..

Ian, if you chose a better angle you could use foreshortening to make your dog look a little less long.
Thanks for the suggestion, David. I had to look up foreshortening. I can see how it would work when drawing. Is the angle that you have in mind a bit higher?

My x-t3 also has a temperemental auto focus
Settings that work on my D800 behave differently and I rarely get the sharpness I can obtain with the D800, specially with moving subjects, static subjects are usually not a problem

Any angle where the head of your dog is closer to the lens than the tail. :)
A short telephoto such as an 85mm or 105mm on 36x24mm format helps without being obvious.

Lying in bed (Pacific time zone )(8 hours different from GMT), looking at a tablet, I came to the realization why I enjoy just flipping through the monthly blog.
Nikongear has been, as far back as I remember, the stopping place for photographers who are mature and respectful of the art of photography.
There are rarely newbies to photography who haven't yet accumulated enough skills to actually make a fair to good image and who mistake their lack of knowledge and experience for breaking new ground.
So, I can see well done photos that display different areas of interest and style without being distracted by just bad technique.
What a real treat.
As for me, This is one of the styles of street photography I like a lot. All that is connoted by the phrase aides memoire.
I'm not interested in exploring new ways of 'saying' things; I want only to remember specific moments in all their texture.
Realistic setting, clean, nice colors, sufficient surroundings to convey the sense of place, people in the process of being, definite composition that guides the viewer.
3 dimensional, layered look
Enough elements to guide story-making yet usually no attempt to drive to a specific story.
-
Currently temperaturs rarely climb above thr freezing point and we are "blessed" with dense, cold, and wet fog all thoughout the day. Today the fog reminded more of "London smog" and at times visibility was just a few metres. The camera lies and makes the sight a tad better than what meets the naked eye, though,

Each morning for my museum work, I have to climb the steep staircaseof the ancient Botanical Museum to the uppermost floor in which my working space resides. During the cold and frost foggy spells currently prevailing here, my asthmatic lungs are pleased to encounter the view through the upper window :) The beautiful trees in the Botanical Garden outside have grown quite large snd tall over the centuries and make up a pleasant visual backdrop. I enjoy the view for a short while to gather my brreath, then soldier on to yet another day of revising the herbarium collections.

It appeals to me for the same reason. NikonGear is about photography and only photography. No drama, just mature and respectful enjoyment. Not to mention considerable talent! (Myself excluded ;))
There are rarely newbies to photography who haven't yet accumulated enough skills to actually make a fair to good image and who mistake their lack of knowledge and experience for breaking new ground.
Fair enough. However I would hope that an inexperienced photographer would not be deterred from coming to learn. Everyone here has been most courteous and helpful whenever I have had questions about technique or art. One can also learn much from the photographs posted and the discussions thereon.
As for me, This is one of the styles of street photography I like a lot. All that is connoted by the phrase aides memoire.
Yes! I have come to realise that this is the style of photograph that I enjoy most. It was David Hobby who termed it "capturing slices of life." My preference for the 35mm angle of view (on full frame) follows naturally.
Thank you for sharing the photographs!

Congrats Paco, to your sister!
My little sister has written a book with his students. Today was the presentation in my hometown's library. It was very emotional and full of energy from everyone involved. I'm so proud.

My 400/4.5Z proved to be popular amongst the others ... Frank is seeking long-lens support in a relaxed manner.

Strong fractal composition and the strong ceremonial color makes it perfect to add the person for good measure and round up the reading of the image.
-
I think all those added material is to scare away the birds? They are nice from agraphic point of view

The clear winter sky in Tokyo made it easy go shoot the Orion.
Sony FE 35mm/f1.8@f2.5 on A6700@ISO400, 2.5sec. The RAW file was Processed with Sony's own editor. Kenko Prosofton B filter made the stars more visible.

Thank you, Fons. Again, I was surprised how easy to take the night sky images of this quality nowadays.

Still, the power harassment would be possible. :o :o :o

Many thanks Birna, I was surprised that the Raynox works so well with only 40mm. I attached the 43mm macro lens with a step-down adapter to 58mm.
Normally I would use the Z 105mm but say for vacation this combo is excellent.
