Lightning over Tokyo
« on: July 26, 2020, 23:09:15 »
Yesterday, we had lightning shower, and I literally took a chance to capture some.  These are more successful ones among about 100 frames shot.  The last one was the same as posted to "Your Weekly Blog" thread.

Thank you, Luc.  Yes, the real pageant was spectacular.  Especially the last one was literally dazzling!

Lightning, dusk(dawn?), and clouds make good pictures in your hands.

Thank you, Keith.  These were three out of about 100 frames shot roughly between 9:00 and 10:00 P.M.  The sky behind the clouds backlit by the lighting are fairly bright owing to the light pollution.

All frames were shot at 30sec in order to capture the lightning that was difficult to predict.  So, the clouds in all of the failed frames were hopelessly blurred, and the clouds in the posted framse were frozen thanks to the natural huge "flash".

It must have been a spectacular view, Akira.
I really like your compositions! The link with electricity equipment as well.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Peter, for kind words.  I always feel sorry for the people who are directly attacked by the lighting storm (or any kind of extreme weather actually), but the lighning is spectacular when viewed from distance.

The electricity equipment?  Do you mean this one?

I'm not sure if I shared this link here or anywhere you have access to, but am glad to be of any help.

Sorry, Akira. I can't find the correct wording but I mean the electricity wires and the related transportation hardware.
And you are right: one has to be cautious outside in these circumstances!

Thank you for clarification, Peter.  Sorry to have misunderstood your comment.  I think the power lines, the pylons (hope this is what you mean!) and the cranes are very effective compositional elements to enhance the "artificial vs. natural" contrast.

Absolutely! You say it much more eloquently but that’s what I meant. Thank you.
