You are not Frank, that is me.

I had this lens as my beloved outdoor portrait fixture in the 1980ies and 1990ies. Superb sharpness and detail rendering, bokeh can be a tad harsh at times but not if the background is far enough away.

I really loved the build in hood.

This COVID sheltering is certainly increasing your output!

I certainly love you, Jack and we will see as soon as you "vote him away" .. Covid needs my 300PF or my 2/200VR if more intimacy seems to be required. ;-)

It's interesting you prefer the Nikkor-Q 135/2.8 Auto, I didn't add one to my collection for years because I didn't like the look of it - the proportions seem wrong and diamond-pattern rubber grip don't match other similar lenses like the 105/2.5 or 200/4. On the other hand I really like New-Nikkor (K) version - much more refined shape and better lens coatings. I have one which is AI converted, should really use it more often! :) :o

I found the 135mm f/2.8 Q a while ago, and at that time, my usual repair shop in Paris had a left over converter kit for it, so now it's an AI instead of a pre-AI !
The focusing ring is butter smooth, just perfect, and I love the sun-shade gimmick ( à la 105mm f/2.5, but better) :-) I find it sharp enough !

Grip on 135 Q is similar as on 55 P.auto 3.5 which I have. I wonder if the focusing will be damped also similarily - I like it on 55. (I just won one 135 Q on Yahoo Auction in Japan I have to at first figure out how to get it here - Japan post is stopped now due to virus)  :-)

Jacques, nice shot. I somehow overlooked it last time.
My shot is also taken with 135Q.

:) Yeah. I like it also.
Today I got changing bag, earlier this week I got chemicals, so maybe this weekend is the time to develop my first roll of film.
(But that topic is maybe for another thread)  :)

Very nice picture Jacques. Where was it taken ?

On the island of Porquerolles, which, till the breaking of Covid, was my usual summer dwelling with my family.
Very small island on the french south coast (facing Hyères) that has the great advantage that the last ferry is at 7 p.m (and the first at 10 a.m.), meaning that only residents can stay the night (no campers). A small village, just two small hotels and mostly rooms or flats to rent.

It's also a natural park and a seed bank for southern vegetation (including fruit trees) ! You can forget about wi-fi (it exist but is so slow).
As for such secluded places, you can dine with an ex french président at the next table, or movie stars... But no bling-bling or press, nor people, wide eyed, taking pictures, everyone there understands the need for privacy and the important bubble of restful and peaceful time  ;)

Lovely photo design. You've made Porquerolles a fascinating place already.
I will eventually acquire one of these lenses...if only because it's cool appearance.
