Thanks Fons.  Yes, the 50/1.8S is capable of some nice bokeh and DOF rendering.

One of my overwintering cultures of Lemna turionifera Red Duckweed suddenly lost its growth advantage over its accompanying floating liverwort Riccia fluitans. Within a week, the Riccia had surpassed the duckweed and now aims for [micro]cosmic dominance.
