Yes focus is much better on the Z6, but I still get unwanted glow at f1.2

The glow is what makes the 50/1.2 ai-s a keeper for me!  Definitely a lot easier to use on the Z EVFs.

.
Here's another option for using your 50/1.2 lens

I own two of them, and these days, my preferred method of using them is on my Panasonic MFT cameras with a Metabones Speed Booster (see photo).

With this speed booster, the effective aperture wide open is f0.80 and the field of view is similar to 40mm-ish on full frame.  Also it's sharper too.

These days I'm shooting all of my Nikkor lenses either with a speed booster on MFT cameras, or on a Nikon CCD sensor camera (prefer CCD colors).

.
Nice setup indeed, Bruce. I own Olympus E-M10 MFT cameras and a (normal/non-speedbooster) F to MFT adapter.
I've used it only a few times though. I didn't like the 2x focal length factor and for me the EVF isn't good enough for manual focus.

Just for the sake of variety, here are a few shots with the Cosina 55mm f1.2 in PK mount. I always used to think that Nikon lenses of the day were the ne plus ultra of SLR lenses, but honestly I am very impressed with this "cheap" 3rd party lens. It does have distinctively different bokeh, not soft, but neither too harsh IMO, that gives it a very painterly look in OOF areas

Great fun that bee shot!.
All of these Cosina images looks like they where post processed quite 'hard', this really does not show the rendering characteristics directly, so the observer should be aware of this ;)

Great images series!

I made time this last week and put my Nikon 50mm AI 1.2 on my Nikon Z50/FTZ and had some fun.  Switching the peaking color from the default of red to blue definitely made a difference.  With peaking and zoom, it was so much simpler than using the 50/1.2 on my D610, D7100, D7200, and D7500.

That’s a nice set up Bruce, may I ask where you got the Nikon rubber focusing collar? I have a few old timers that would work well on. I agree with the comments on the 50 1.2. It doesn’t work with busy backgrounds but it sure looks in this set. I have the Ai version and tried it on the Z6 when it first came out and was very impressed. I will just wait a few years for the price to drop. I’m looking forward to have image stabilization on all my manual focus glass. It will be like shooting my old Nikkormat with a 50 at a 1/4 of a second when my hands were more steady. Gerry

Gerry, I bought the rubber "Nikon" grip from that big "Amazon.com" like Internet retailer out of China.  Alibaba, or something like that.  It was inexpensive, but I try not to buy gear from China these days because shipping takes so long.

I always shoot my 50/1.2 on speed boosters wide open, so the aperture is f/0.80.  I'm usually needing either an electronic shutter for super fast shutter speeds or ND filters.   When always shooting at 1/2,000th or faster there's no need for IS, so even though my Panasonic MFT bodies have IS built into them, I never use it because of the super high shutter speeds I'm using.

I'm with Erik, I would like to see these unprocessed to be able to value the pure rendering of the lens.

A little late at this thread, but still relevant I hope.
The 50 1.2 ais made me trade me 58 1.4 voigtländer. It felt that good.
I use it on m43 as well (various Olys) via speedbooster or normal adapter.
I find the 2-4 range excellent. 2 for dreamy look with good central sharpness and 4 for biting results almost full frame.
Lovely satisfying construction as well.
