Nikon don’t want to loose face so it will arrive, albeit in very limited numbers (which is sure to hike prices).

I don`t have neither the Z6 nor the Z7. The new Noct is not an option to me. According to the hefty rumored price tag I would rather suggest waiting for a used one coming up for sale. As earlier mentioned I bought the Noct-Nikkor 58 1.2 AIS brand new from Japan in 1983, just in reach before a trip to Paris, France. When used with my Df I will share some results!

Well $7,996.95 is not cheap but at least it is the first Z lens with proper (linear) manual focussing...

Actually I had expected (feared) worse ... I'm on a pre-order list, but don't expect to get a specimen before 2020.

Dont expect that used ones will be available soon - and if so there wont be significant price reductions- prices might even go up

Not surprised. It'll be a killer optic.

The MTF graph is absolutely amazing.

The Norwegian RRP was a tad higher thsn I had wished for, though (NOK 93990,-). Ouch. Have to reassess my financial status before I place a firm order for it.

I have different words, but the same result. For me, it is the bokeh in which to stack islands of focus via a highly-corrected lens

To get this Noct, I am selling a Cambo Actus-XL-35 View camera, a Zeiss Otus 85mm, and a Hartblie Supperrotator 120mm Macro lens, the same lens used in the classic Hasselblad systens, if anyone is interested.

The starry sky image on DPReview shows a shocking amount of coma present given the lens.  I personally would expect a $9K 'Noct' to have virtually no coma.  Not that my opinion matters much, I am certainly not a viable customer for a $9K lens.   ::)

I think that is a great move for the type of work you do. I am sure you will really enjoy the Noct and I am looking forward to seeing your results.
