I made a comparison with the images taken today by the d500 with same foolography and phone. Those are accurate to a couple of meters if not spot on.
Seems to me, and I could be mistaken, completely accurate GPS info for readily available US devices was blocked by federal authority. But, and again my disclaimer that I could be mistaken, I think that restriction has since either been lifted or ignored. The era of the D200 would fall under said restriction, and I don't know how that affected devices in countries other than the USA. My guess is that all publicly available devices had that same restriction, worldwide.
