What L bracket are you using with your D850?

There are quite a few brands offering a bracket all at different prices.

RRS BD850-UL; simple and solid single-piece design with a position locking pin. Good alternative for the RRS BD850-L two-piece bracket which has the disadvantage that the left straplet needs to be removed in order to have the l-part close to the body.

I have the Kirk BL-D850 -  works fine and I am quite happy with it.  this is size without the grip.

Bob i will check out the Kirk they are only available from Germany but cheaper than the RRS option.

I had the sunway with the d800; so many differences in prices the sunway goes for €75 and the RRS UL for €200.
And there is a Genesis L-Plate for €50.

Really?  I use Sunway ballhead, universal rail and camera plates and have had only positive impressions so far...

I bought a lot of the Sunway stuff for mostly studio macro work.. definitely broke.

for all my work outside, I use Kirk.. always have. RRS is fine too.

I could see that happening. It really depends on use. Your photos are not just from high skills but also serious glass (Otus, big long lenses). I use and like the Arca Swiss ball head - but a friend of mine shoots big 600mm Canons and broke his. I use relatively dainty old lenses, nothing bigger than Zeiss 135mm and the Sunway has so far been adequate for my use.

just my recommendation.  Can't go wrong with Kirk and RRH and they all fit well too. Also the Kirk ballheads are great.
