Buenas Tardes fellow NikonGearettes.  This is the day after Thanksgiving.  Mary Lou, Maggie and Gary are recovering in the patio.  It is three o'clock and about 70F/21C in the backyard.  Yesterday was long and tiring, but well worth the effort.  The food was excellent, wine wonderful and both were more than plentiful. Nearly twice as many guests showed up than expected and fortunately we cooked up a ton of food.  Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, salads, breads, cranberry sauce, et cetera all washed down with California, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, some unique red blends and an extremely tasty brandy. It was a very pleasant afternoon and evening and I wish you all could have come.

Mary Lou, (my much much better half), suggested that we do absolutely nothing today and I didn't argue.  Consequently, after walking Maggie, (our Wheaten Terrier in the local park), we spent the day relaxing in the patio, sipping coffee, eating banana bread, watching news shows on the tele, reading the paper and just kicking back and watching the Koi swim lazily in the pond and the hummers darting amongst the blossoms.

Tonight, Thanksgiving leftovers ... a Netflix, followed up with a dip in the hot tub.

Tomorrow, I will roast some coffee beans.

Thanks for sharing, Gary. Your experience was close to our own, save for our homemade Habanero cranberry sauce that has become a must have. Not only did we get pumpkin pie, but my wife made pumpkin-ricotta cheese pie, just to gild the lily. By some standards, the whole event was a calorie counter's nightmare, but we persevered!  ;)

None from moi. There just wasn't enough time for photos ... the thought didn't cross my mind as I was too busy cooking and the hosting. I know you would have enjoy all the food and I would have wanted you to add a few dishes.  I separated the turkey skin from the meat and rubbed he meat with a mix of butter/basil/thyme and a branch of rosemary on top.  Than I bagged the turkey and cooked per thermometer rather than time.  The bird was juicy and delish. The wine was great from Temecula and Sonoma. I'll remember next time to get some snaps of the food.

Frank, I can see you stripping down to your undies and leaping into the hot tub with a glass of wine in one hand and a turkey leg in the other.  8)

Yes to the nightmare.  Calories be damned on Thanksgiving!

Buenos Dias fellow NikonGearettes. Gary and Miss Maggie have returned from our morning walk. The sun is out, but it is a cool 66F.  Maggie played with Honey and Chloe in the park.  Honey is an expert at Frisbee and Chloe is a German Shepard Doberman pup. Honey and Chloe's human has a touch of the stomach flue and asked if I'd take Chloe home for a spell. Consequently, Maggie and Chloe are running around the backyard pulling all the toys out of the toy box and trampling the gardens ... an artichoke is half the size than it was pre-Chloe.  8)  Gary is in the patio reading the paper and dogsitting.  Well, more dogsitting than reading.   Chole is mesmerized by the hummingbirds hovering about the feeder. At noon a friend is coming over to learn about roasting coffee.  Then a movie at 3:00 p.m. and sushi later.
